Faculty Cluster-Hire in Energy Systems

The Ohio State University has significant strengths in energy research, with well-established focus areas including: clean coal, fuel cells, nuclear power, sustainable transportation and alternative energy conversion and novel fuels. Through a targeted investment of over $10M, the University has chosen to establish the Center for Energy, Sustainability, and the Environment in the College of Engineering to address the present and long-term global need for energy. Center affiliates will engage in research on clean coal and nuclear power, fuel cells, solar and other energy conversion systems, and new technologies that will allow the utilization of renewable energy sources for some of our energy needs.

This cluster-hiring concept is designed to build a team of faculty and researchers with complementary strengths across several key interdisciplinary areas. Correspondingly, these hires will occur in several departments, including Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering, and the Knowlton School of Architecture. Ideal candidates should have expertise in energy systems specializing in one or more fields specified below:

    1. Nuclear Engineering 2. Coal Science and Technology 3. Combustion 4. Thermodynamics and Combined Heat and Power 5. Thermal Solar Energy Systems, Photovoltaic Materials and Devices 6. Energy Policy Analysis and Planning 7. Sustainable Buildings

Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in, or related to, one of the areas mentioned above, have a distinguished record of scholarship commensurate with experience, exceptional potential for world-class research, and a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education. Candidates will be considered at all faculty levels (Assistant, Associate, and Full) for this opportunity.

Application Procedure

For consideration, please submit in electronic form your curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching interests, and the names and contact information for at least three references. Applications will be reviewed on a continual basis until ‘all’ positions are filled. Please submit applications electronically to:
