Student Project Team
OSU FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics
The First competition is between teams composed of high school students, corporate sponsors, and universities. The purpose of the competition is to design and build a part autonomous and part remote controlled robot. The tasks assigned the robot change every year. Currently, OSU sponsors three high school teams.
- 2005 – Sponsored three high school teams. In regional competition one team won the Regional Chairman's Award. Two of the teams went to national competition with one team placing 15th out of 85 and the other team placing 77th.
- 2004 – Started a third team with a home group community school. CSG team won Team Spirit Award at regionals. Dublin team won Engineering Inspiration Award (silver medal) at regionals and advanced to nationals. Home school team won Rookie Inspiration Award.
- 2003 – Started a second team with Dublin City Schools. Columbus School for Girls team advanced to Nationals. Dublin Team received Rookie All-Star award at regionals
- 2002 – Made it to semi-finals at regional, received Entrepreneurship Award
- 2001 – 54th out of 84 teams
- 1998 – 44th out of 206 teams
- 1997 – 69th out of 156 teams
