Formula SAE car

Formula SAE Race Car

The Formula SAE competition consists of students designing, fabricating, testing, and driving formula-style race car. Powered by a 600cc Honda CBR motorcycle engine, these vehicles compete in acceleration, cornering, auto cross, and endurance events. Additionally, teams must submit cost reports, design reports, and make an oral presentation. The combined score from all events determines the overall winner.

  • 2006 – Placed 67th out of 125 teams. Placed 8th in Cost Category
  • 2005 – 67th overall out of 122 teams. Placed 3rd in cost.
  • 2004 – 10th overall out of 140 teams, 3rd in Cost, 4th in Design, 11th in Endurance, 14th in Business Presentation, 23rd in Autocross
  • 2002 – 24th out of 125 teams, 3rd Skid Pad, 3rd Design, 5th Autocross, 6th Acceleration, 9th Cost, 10th Business Report
  • 2001 – 3rd out of 125 teams in Michigan; 1st in Acceleration, 2nd in Design. 6th out of 30 teams in England
